My name is Bella Tulk. I am a senior at Flowery Branch High School.

I have been interning at Davis Middle School's counselor's office throughout the year, which has been an incredible experience! I chose to do this mentorship because psychology and human behavior have always really interested me. It's insane how much happens with students in our own schools that most students are completely unaware of. Many students have terrible home lives, no food at home, few clothes, and no emotional support from their parents. Growing up in a loving home where my parents constantly push me to be my very best, I had no idea what some students go through every day.

Both my mentorship and my research project have helped diminish the ignorance that once enveloped me. I have been exposed to middle school students who have awful things going on in their lives, which is what inspired me to do this project. I wanted to discover exactly how school counselors make an impact on those kids' lives so I can use it in my life to help my peers. I have always wanted to help students struggling but never knew how. Through my research in this project, I have discovered just how counselors do so.
